But, But, Muh Gun Control
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
-2nd Amendment, U.S. Constitution
It may come as a surprise to you but the 2nd Amendment doesn't actually grant the right to keep and bear arm, it only identifies it as a right that is not to be infringed. The 2nd Amendment is actually a command directed at the federal government to make sure the federal government never had the capability to remove arms (short for armaments aka weapons of war) from it's people. The founding fathers could not have made their intentions any more clear and worded the 2nd Amendment specifically to prevent the repeal of the amendment.
"A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."
-George Washington
As someone who has grown up around guns, I have always and will always support any effort to restrict any "gun control" measure taken by any level of government. As a veteran, I once took an oath to support and defend the Constitution and as it stands nobody has relieved me of my duty.
